Official website of Newfoundland author Robert
C. Parsons.
Robert C. Parsons is one of Newfoundland's most
popular and prolific writers specializing in
stories of shipwrecks, rescue and survival in
the waters off Newfoundland and Labrador, as
well as Canada's Maritime Provinces. In his
twenty-three years of research and writing of
North Atlantic ships and sailors, survivors and
victims, especially those of Newfoundland and
Labrador, his sea stories now number in the
hundreds and he has published twenty-two books.
Beginning as a hobby, Parson's passion for the
history and heritage of the sea led to his
interviews with sailors and fishermen who "stood
before the mast" on all-sail wooden ships.
Although their numbers are now greatly reduced,
Robert has continued his research through oral
history supported by archival materials.
Retired from his teaching career, Robert devotes
much of his time to researching, writing and
promoting the sea-going history of Canada’s
eastern provinces, of the ships, and the people
who sailed them. |
